FIN: OOST is Closing
Nine years of OOST in the heart of Groningen will come to an end. An abrupt rise in costs for use of the building brings a financial burden that we cannot bear. With that, our final night at the Oosterstraat has been set at July 5th, 2025. Closing our doors, for real this time.

Rapid Developments
At the beginning of March, it became apparent that all initiatives in the building need to generate higher profits across the board. With this realization, developments surrounding OOST rapidly accelerated. After all, this would significantly change either the costs or the concept of OOST. A joint search for a solution was undertaken, but none was found. As April came around, we drew the conclusion that this situation will mean the end of OOST. Cilinder will stay in the building; they will use the club room for other activities in collaboration with external parties.
Final chapter
On July 5th, OOST will open its doors for the last time. In the coming months we’ll work our way toward a resounding finale. May and June will be dedicated to nine years of night culture, with international acts from past years returning. Part of the lineup will remain a surprise — all headliners will be presented as ‘special guests’. Resident DJs will be announced, helping to shape the musical direction of each night.
Next Steps
Impact Within and Beyond Groningen
For close to a decade we worked hard to play a unique role in both the local and national nightlife scene. Weekend after weekend, the club served as a home base for fans of adventurous electronic music, night culture and its fringes. Throughout the club’s lifetime, eccentric and groundbreaking artists from both the Netherlands and abroad took to the stage at OOST. Thanks to the crew, the volunteers, the crowd, our cultural, artistic, societal and funding partners, the many artists and everyone working on the artist’s side we’ve created some truly wonderful events, initiatives, moments and sense of community. You have our endless gratitude for helping us present the most valuable experience of the night, for nine years straight.
So much to cherish while we celebrate endings and look forward to new beginnings.
